Defiance, OH – A nine-run sixth inning propelled the Siena Heights University Softball team to their first WHAC win of the season Saturday, 14-7.
The Saints had trailed Defiance College 5-0 before Lauren Dioszegi connected for a 3-run home run in the fourth. Emma Marshall added a two-hit game with two RBI. Faith Breinager, Lee Clinton and Ellie Thelen scored two runs each. Thelen and Liberti Fair had two RBI apiece.
Shyann Truax was the winning pitcher, racking up 11 strikeouts in seven innings.
During the Saints’ sixth, Breinager had an RBI single before Clinton, Fair, Thelen and Truax drew bases-loaded walks. Emma Fair added an RBI groundout, Marshall hit a two-run single and Dioszegi provided a run-scoring single.
Liberti Fair and Thelen had RBIs in the seventh. The contest was aired on 96.5fm The Cave with Jeff Bowman on the call.
