Tecumseh Native Tallies Two Hits in AC Baseball’s Loss to Mount Union

Adrian, MI – The Adrian College baseball team hosted the University of Mount Union on Wednesday afternoon in their final non-conference game of the season. The Bulldogs were defeated 6-3, bringing their overall record to 8-10 as they prepare to begin MIAA conference play.

Both teams were held scoreless until the third inning, where Mount Union took a 1-0 lead. Adrian quickly answered in the bottom of the inning, with a Nic Bruder 2-RBI single to center field, giving the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage.

A five-hit, five-run fifth inning created separation for the Purple Raiders, as they gained a 6-2 advantage. In the bottom of the sixth, Joe Casale singled in a run for Adrian, narrowing the gap to 6-3. Tecumseh native Jake Burns led Adrian offensively with two hits, a walk, and a run scored.

Adrian used a pitching-by-committee approach, sending seven pitchers to the mound throughout the game. Logan Hunt took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in one inning of work.

The Bulldogs will open MIAA conference play this afternoon at 4pm on the road against Alma College. Adrian will return home for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 29th, with Alma, starting at 1pm.
