
Adrian, MI – The SHU Fieldhouse was electric Saturday for the doubleheader basketball games between Siena Heights University and the University of Northwestern Ohio. The regular season finale for both teams was also their annual Pink Game and Senior Day. The Saints home court advantage proved to be too much for the Racers, as SHU won the women’s contest in overtime, 79-74, and the men’s game in regulation, 85-74.
Saints Surge in OT to Clinch No. 3 Seed in WHAC Tournament…
Brooke Rebman paced Siena Heights (17-11, 14-6 WHAC) Saturday with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Kanyla Tyler (16), Madison Vice (15), and Sarrinah Ajami (14) also scored double digit points. Senor E’Anna Won had a solid afternoon, netting 8 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, and a steal.
SHU led 62-53 in the fourth quarter, before UNOH (19-9, 12-8 WHAC) found their scoring touch, forcing overtime with a 69-69 score. The Saints surged ahead in OT, outscoring the Racers 10-2 in the extra frame. The result sets up a rematch in the WHAC Tournament quarterfinal round Wednesday, February 26th at the SHU Fieldhouse. The Saints are the #3 seed in the tournament, the Racers slip to #6.
Saints Shine on Senior Day in Season Finale…
The Siena Heights men’s basketball team defeated UNOH in WHAC action on Saturday, 85-74 at the SHU fieldhouse.
Kobe Clark led the Saints recording a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while also leading the team in assists with six. Three other Saints scored in double-figures with George Kalatzis leading the Saints in scoring with 23 points. Brent Wiles and Nate Houston III also scored in double-figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
SHU (8-20, 5-15) started the game up 16-6 in the first 6:36 of game action before surrendering a 26-9 run in a span of 7:46 to trail 32-25. SHU then responded to UNOH’s run ending the half on another 16-6 run to lead 41-38 at the break.
In the second half, SHU started on an 11-4 run and never looked back as they outscored UNOH 44-36. The upset victory by the Saints dropped the Racers to the No. 7 seed in the WHAC Tournament.
