
River Falls, MI – The No. 7 Adrian College NCAA women’s hockey team opened its weekend at No. 3 University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Thursday night, dropping the contest 7-5.
UW-Rivers Falls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first 4 minutes, which was answered by a goal from Courtney Ben to tie the game. UW-River Falls answered back with a pair of goals to lead 3-1 after the first. In the second period, UW-River Falls extended its lead to 5-1 before Karmen Anderson scored for Adrian to make it 5-2. The Falcons scored again before the end of the period to lead 6-2.
The Bulldogs bit-back in the third period, with a goal from Une Bjelland to make it 6-3. Tia Lascelle found the back of the net which was later followed by Bjelland’s second goal of the game to trail by one. The Bulldogs were forced to pull their goaltender which allowed an empty net goal to lose 7-5.
Annie Gilbert got the start in net where she made 14 saves. Michaela O’Brien came in later in the game where she collected 17 saves.
The Bulldogs will return to action tonight when they open up a two-game NCHA series at Concordia Wisconsin at 8:00 PM EST.
