
Adrian, MI – It was a double-dip of Siena Heights University Basketball success last night, with both the Women’s and Men’s teams dominating their cross-town rival Adrian College. The Fieldhouse at SHU was not kind to the Bulldogs, as both teams were only able to muster 40 points.
Siena Women Coast Past Adrian…
The Siena Heights women’s basketball team claimed a 60-40 victory over their cross-town rival in non-conference action on Tuesday night. E’Anna Won and Jakarri Alven each had nine points to lead SHU (3-2).
Jillian Gelso was the second leading scorer with eight points. Kayla Hinton and Olivia DeLong grabbed six rebounds apiece. DeLong also made four blocks. Siena Heights took a 27-21 lead into halftime before outscoring the visiting Bulldogs (3-2), 20-8, in the third quarter to pull away.
The Saints will return to action this weekend with the SHU Thanksgiving Tournament, which begins Saturday at 4 p.m.
Siena Men Blowout ‘Dawgs…
The Siena Heights Men’s Basketball team hosted cross-town rival Adrian College and came out victorious 72-40. Jonny Bowers led the day off of the bench for the Saints with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks.
On the starting five, the Saints were also led by Delano Williams with 12 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Along with Williams, Jonas Tester scored 12 points along with five rebounds and seven steals. The Saints shot 44.6% from the field and 46.2% from three.
Adrian College and Siena Heights were back and forth early as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-4 lead. After that, the Saints were on a 15-0 run to go up 19-6, and the Saints did not slow down from there as they had the 31-13 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Saints continued to pummel the Bulldogs. After an early three from Adrian, the Saints did not look back as they then went on to go on a 17-4 run to go up 48-20 with 11:33 to go in the game…eventually winning the “Battle for the Milk Jug” with a 72-40 victory.
