
Onsted hosted doubleheader boys basketball action Monday that saw the Wildcats defeat Hillsdale 53-48 and the Adrian Maples take down the Chelsea Bulldogs 52-51. Onsted led 27-20 at halftime but Hillsdale tied it at 38 going into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats won the game at the free throw line hitting 15 of 23 to just 1 of 8 for the Hornets. Travis Hill led all scorers with 23 points with Cooper Lake adding 12 and Dayton Henagan with 10.
The Maples won a wild one from Chelsea as Joe Francis hit a shot with 4 seconds remaining to give the Maples the win. Chelsea led by 12 at halftime and by 9 going into the fourth quarter but Adrian’s relentless pressure forced turnovers and a triple by Francis gave Adrian’s its first lead with 1:18 left to play. Chelsea would retake the lead to set up Francis’ game winner. Francis led all scorers with 20 points but Adrian got big contributions from Connor Davies with 8 and Ja’Kwan Parra with 7. Onsted advances to semi final play Wednesday against Columbia Central and Adrian against Tecumseh.
