
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College men’s basketball team traveled to Trine University for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs came away with a 69-62 victory led by Jeremy Kalonji who finished with 23 points and Jordan Harris who collected 18 points.
The Bulldogs led 12-6 after back-to-back three-point baskets from Robert Warrick and Harris. Kalonji capped the 7-0 Adrian run with a layup to lead by ten. With under six minutes remaining in the first half, two made jump shots from Trine and two made free throws cut the Bulldogs lead to two. The first half remained low scoring for both sides as a three-pointer from Harris with 30 seconds left in the half put Adrian ahead 25-20 at the break.
Both teams came out scoring in the second half as Adrian led 34-31 with 15 minutes to play. Harris took a shot from beyond the arc and drew a foul to head to the line and complete the four-point play. After a made three from Kalonji, the Bulldogs grabbed their second ten-point lead of the game. With five minutes remaining in the game, Kalonji hit a jumper, then picked up a block on defense which was followed up by a jump shot from Warrick to take their largest lead of the afternoon at 12.
Adrian finished 6-of-6 from the line to shock Trine and come away with a 69-62 victory.
The Bulldogs improve to 11-10 on the season with a 5-5 MIAA record and dropped Trine to 7-3 MIAA conference play. With the win over Trine, Adrian has defeated two teams in the last two weeks that rank higher than them in the MIAA standings.
