Outstanding Performance by Jordan Harris Nets Adrian College Basketball 94-87 Win

The Adrian College Men’s Basketball team came away with the St. Andrews Classic title as a result of their 94-87 win over Hiram on Sunday afternoon at Trine University.

Junior Jordan Harris scored 22 of his career-high 40 points in the second half. He was 12-25 on field goal attempts, including 6-13 from beyond the arc, and 8-11 at the free throw line. The 40 points scored is the most in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association this season.

Senior Jeremy Kalonji scored 23 points for the Bulldogs, going 7-13 from the field and 7-8 at the free throw line. He also added eight rebounds to his stat line.

Adrian’s Robert Warrick chipped-in a game-high 13 rebounds and had six assists.

For Hiram, Brodgie Gordon had a team-high 21 points to go with 4 assists.

Adrian trailed 45-42 at the halftime break, but went on to outscore the Terriers 52-42 in the second stanza. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 47.7 percent on field goals, 45.5% on 3-point attempts, and 78.6% from the charity stripe. Hiram shot 44.1 percent from the floor, 39.4% on 3-pointers, and 70% from the free throw line.

The big play for Adrian came with 2 minutes and 25 seconds remaining in the contest and Hiram holding an 84-83 advantage. A Hiram dunk attempt was blocked by Warrick, then Harris drained a tree on Adrian’s next possession to put the Bulldogs ahead for good, 86-84.

The win puts Adrian’s overall record at 5-5, and drops Hiram to 4-6 overall. The Bulldogs have yet to play a conference game this season.

Jordan Harris becomes the 24th scorer in NCAA Division III this season to reach 40 points in a game. The 40 points are tied for the fourth-most by a Bulldog in school history and the highest since Davonte Harris netted 43–for the second-most–against Alma on January 7th, 2017.

Adrian College will be back in action Thursday, January 2nd, when the Bulldogs host North Park at 3pm in the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center.
