9-11 Year Old Baseball (Hosted by Plymouth Canton Little League)
Tecumseh won the District title last night, defeating Plymouth Canton 7-4. Tecumseh will head to the state tournament, hosted by Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores Little League. Their first game is vs. Chelsea, on Saturday, July 26th, 12:30 PM.
8-10 Year Old Baseball (Hosted by Tecumseh Area Little League)
Ash Carleton defeated Lenawee Christian, 9-4. Blissfield National topped Clinton, 14-1.

The Detroit Lions placed defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike on the reserve/physically unable to perform list Thursday, meaning he will miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
The nature of the 27-year-old’s injury is not known.
Onwuzurike re-signed with the Lions this offseason, getting a one-year deal. He experienced a bounce-back year in 2024, starting in 10 of his 16 appearances, logging 28 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and a career-high 13 quarterback hits.

The Detroit Lions have agreed to a deal with second-round pick Tate Ratledge, reportedly inking a four-year contract on Thursday.
Under the NFL’s slotted rookie salary system, Ratledge’s contract is worth $7.648 million total and includes a $2.21 million signing bonus, according to OverTheCap.com.
The Georgia alumnus was one of approximately 30 second-round picks from April’s draft holding out after the Houston Texans gave their Round 2 pick, wide receiver Jayden Higgins, a full-guaranteed contract months ago.
It is not known how much of Ratledge’s contract is fully guaranteed.
The 57th pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, Ratledge is in the mix to replace Frank Ragnow as the Lions’ starting center this fall.

Michigan State’s men’s basketball team was recognized with a Team Academic Excellence Award and five members of the team were selected to the Honor Court by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The Spartans who earned spots on the NABC Honors Court were junior center Carson Cooper, senior forward Frankie Fidler, graduate guard Jaden Akins, junior guard Nick Sanders, and senior center Szymon Zapala.

In the NFL… defensive lineman Mason Graham went 5th to the Cleveland Browns and Kenneth Grant was selected by the Miami Dolphins at 13. Tight End Colston Loveland went 10th to the Bears.
In the NBA…forward Danny Wolf went 27th to the Brooklyn Nets. Centerman William Horcoff went 24th overall to the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. In the MLB…infielder Mitch Voit went 38th to the New York Mets. And in Major league Soccer… midfielder Jason Bucknor was selected 20th by the Los Angeles Galaxy.
