Adrian NCAA Women’s Hockey Sweep St. Norbert, Win Kronschnabel Cup

De Pere, Wisconsin – The No. 6 Adrian College women’s hockey team played in a winner take all contest on Saturday afternoon. The winner between the Bulldogs and No. 13 St. Norbert earned the NCHA Regular Season Championship and home ice for the Slaats Cup Playoffs. Adrian went on to sweep the two-game road series and win the Kronschnabel Cup. (AC won Friday night, 1-0)

Une Bjelland scored a first period goal for the Bulldogs on a power play to grab an early 1-0 lead. The rest of the first period went scoreless as did the second period putting the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 entering the third.

In the third period, the Green Knights tied the game 1-1. Emma Corbett answered for Adrian to give the Bulldogs the lead again with 16:24 to go in the game. St. Norbert grabbed the momentum later in the period as they tied the game 2-2. With 2:50 to go in the third period, Jocelin Hudanish scored to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Adrian held on for the remaining time to win the game.

Sophie Goldberg started in goal for Adrian where she finished with 27 saves.

The Bulldogs hold the No. 1 seed for the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs resulting in home ice advantage. The quarterfinals will begin Friday at 7pm against Lawrence University.
