Adrian NCAA Women’s Hockey Earns Shutout Win Friday, Suffers OT Loss Saturday at Lake Forest

Lake Forest, Illinois – It was another weekend of mixed results for Adrian College hockey at Lake Forest College. A week after the NCAA Men’s team won in a shootout and lost in regulation, the NCAA Women’s team picked up a win and suffered an overtime loss against the Foresters.

Friday night’s contest resulted in a 4-0 victory for the nation’s 5th ranked team…and their 5th consecutive shutout. The Bulldogs led 1-0 after the first period of play. Jocelin Hudanish found Mya Roy for the opening goal to lead 1-0 on a power play with six seconds to go in the period.

In the second, it was Hudanish that found the back of the net to lead 2-0. Three minutes later, Adrian extended the lead to 3-0 on a goal from Karmen Anderson.

Anderson went on to score her second goal of the game in the third period to move the score to 4-0. Reaghan Pietrowski added assists on both of Anderson’s goals. Tia Lascelle picked up a secondary assist on the final Bulldog goal.

Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal for Adrian where she faced 27 shots on goal and shutting out the Foresters. Goldberg moved to 12-1 on the season after the win and recorded her seventh shutout of the season and her 16th of her career.

On Saturday, the Foresters and the Bulldogs skated to a scoreless tie through the first period. Adrian grabbed the lead in the second period on a power play goal from Une Bjelland. Just over a minute later, Lake Forest answered to tie the game. Before the period ended, Lake Forest scored on a power play to lead 2-1 after the second.

Jessica VonRuden tied the game early in the third to make it 2-2. After 60 minutes was up, Adrian and Lake Forest forced overtime. With just under three minutes played in overtime, Lake Forest netted a goal to win 3-2.

Sophie Goldberg got the start in goal, making 19 saves. The Bulldogs out-shot the Foresters 53-22. Adrian’s record now sits at 17-2-0 overall, 9-1-0 in the NCHA.

Adrian returns home to host the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons, with the series beginning Saturday, February 4 at 7:00 PM
