Siena Heights University Women’s Basketball Beat Aquinas by 10; Men Lose by 10

Adrian, MI – The Siena Heights University Women’s and Men’s basketball teams played Aquinas on the road Wednesday night. The women defeated Aquinas 65-55 behind a strong performance from Peyton Banks (20 points). SHU outscored their opponent 44-29 in the second half to secure the win. Banks’ point total on Wednesday gets her to an even 1,000 career points. She is the 12th Saints women’s basketball player to reach that milestone.

Banks finished 7-16 shooting and hauled in four rebounds to lead the Saints to the win. Kelsey Wyman tallied 14 points on 5-10 shooting. She had six rebounds and dished three assists in the game.

Siena has a makeup game tonight against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opponent Concordia (Mich.). The game is scheduled for a 7:30 PM tip and will be at the Cardinal Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team dropped an away WHAC game 72-62 against Aquinas on Wednesday night. Kevin Rice led Siena with a career-high of 29 points, a team-high of eight rebounds, a team-high of four assists, and a team-high of five steals.

Aquinas jumped out to a 12-4 lead and never looked back. Siena fought back as they cut the deficit to eight points (35-27) as Rice drained a three-pointer from Bryce Armstrong to send the game into intermission.

Aquinas maintained the same energy as the first half going on a 12-0 run. SHU pushed with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 47-34 as Rice made a free throw with 15:24 left of play. Aquinas then earned the largest lead of the game of 22 points (64-42) later in the half. Siena cut the deficit to 72-62 as they made a three-point shot to end the game.

Siena returns home to host Rochester for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) contest on Saturday, February 13th at 2:00 PM.
